God Bless You, Paige

Yesterday was Paige's baptism! The weather was beautiful--a rare sunny day this bleary winter! She looked beautiful in her baptismal gown made by Grandma Parrott and Great-Grandma Johnson, and wore an antique bracelet that Grandma P's grandparents had given her (and was also worn by Paige's Aunt Hillarie and Haylie). Her godmother, Aunt Susan, stood up with us in front of church. Unfortunately, her godfather, Darby, had something come up at his own church at the very last minute and was not able to attend. Also unable to attend was our other pastor, Carole, who had urgent knee surgery last week. We hope she's continuing to heal and feel better! Frank, our pastor who did the baptism (Frank and Carole are married), said it had been a very long time since he'd had to both hold the baby and put the water on her head...but Paige made it easy by keeping her head back watching the ceiling fans! After we sat back down she slept in Matt's lap for the rest of the service, even through the pipe organ and the amazing choir piece.

Back at the house, we had both families together for lunch and cake, which Paige managed to grab a handful of icing from while taking more pictures. We had no idea babies got baptismal gifts and cards, but Paige got some sweet ones, including a wonderful Pioneer wagon from Grandma and Grandpa Buning! We're just going to ignore the Pioneer slogan on the back...no increase in "yield" from us anytime soon!

We are so blessed to have this sweet miracle in our lives, and families, friends, and a church to support us as we raise her to know her God who brought her to us. Take a moment today to thank God for the blessings in your life!
