Still Workin' It!

September 10th is now less than 2 weeks away! While it's been decided that I can keep working until the due date, I have cut back to three (maybe four, if I feel up to it) 8-hour shifts per week instead of my usual 12-hour shifts. I've obviously had to make some wardrobe modifications when it comes to my scrubs...I was never a big fan of the button-down style until the past few months!

We hope you are all enjoying some time off this weekend, and have a great Labor Day!

Bye, Uncle Josh

Last Friday found us waving goodbye to Josh again...now off to South Korea, where he'll be teaching English at a public school in Sok Cho for at least one year. Unfortunately, he could not stay until his first niece arrived, but thanks to all this fancy schmancy technology, he'll still get to meet baby. In the meantime, it seems the rest of our siblings are closing in on us--Susan is back at GVSU, Hillarie has moved into our friend's house a few blocks away, and Haylie & Kevin will soon be back in Grand Rapids as well. Not that we mind everyone being close by--we'll take all the help we can get!

Catching Up

Sorry again for the delinquency of our blog...even though the due date is very close, it just doesn't seem that there's much to update! We've just been blessed with a very ho-hum, healthy pregnancy--just the normal backaches, not sleeping well, heartburn, slightly swollen feet (I think that's just describing me, but could be Matt once & a while). We're now closing in on 38 weeks, so we're well into what's considered full-term. As you can see, I never got a very big belly (so some people say), but she still measures to date and lets me know quite frequently just how much space she occupies!

The baby showers are now complete, and we feel so incredibly blessed...I think we have more thank-yous to write than when we got married! These pics are from the showers thrown by my work friends at Regina's, Ski Patrol (Matt's on Patrol @ Cannonsburg, for those who don't know), and Haylie & Hillarie in Holland. Let me tell you, we've played some great games...from guessing baby parts on ultrasounds (of course the nurses had that one--and I got every one right!), to "Breaking the Water (balloon)", even crafting babies from Play-Doh, from which I picked the cutest and not-so-cutest as winners.

HOW many weeks?!?

It's unbelievable how time has flown by...here we are, announcing that baby is at 34 weeks! Which means that she could come any day now and probably be just fine...which made me think that I should probably pack a just-in-case bag and figure out how to install the carseat. Maybe clean Izzo's slobber off the windows of the car as well. It has been difficult to keep the blog updated, as we're feverishly working around the house (okay, Matt more than myself, since I require naps every few hours) and getting spoiled by friends and family. Last weekend was a shower with the ladies of the Buning family, which was wonderful! I especially loved the "cake"--made of diapers and baby supplies!

We've also failed to mention that our baby has flipped back to "normal" position, so you won't be seeing any photos of me on my head after all! For now, enjoy this picture of Matt at Childbirth class, learning to bathe, swaddle, and change diapers...a pro in the making.
