Tulip Time

We actually made it out to the last day of Tulip Time on May 10th for the Muziekparade, which also happened to be Mom P's big 50th birthday! Many Holland residents (especially Matt) avoid downtown Holland like the plague this time of year, but a good time was had by all, and any pregnant woman appreciates an elephant ear with Bavarian cream for lunch! I even talked Matt into posing for the picture above...next will be convincing him that our baby girl will have her very own Dutch dress, complete with little wooden clogs!

Maybe it's the Dutch in me, but I love tulips, and thought the candy-stripe tulips were especially pretty. Notice how I'm trying to exaggerate my baby bump...one thing about being tall is that I'm not showing as fast as "bump-watchers" would like...don't worry, it's growing fast now!

THE GREAT CRIB DEBATE OF '08

If you thought the constant back and forth between the presidential candidates was intense, then you would not have wanted to even be in the same state as "The Great Crib Debate of '08". However the polls have been tallied and the votes have been counted, and finally, yes finally, our baby will have a place to rest her head. With so many options and features, I think we were both just ready to give up and let this kid sleep in a drawer.

Ladies and Gentleman I present to you the next president...errrr....our baby's crib, and matching changing table.

Now it is time to pick the bedding.....hopefully will have an update on that by September!

They Grow Up So Fast

It was just a few days after New Years that Nicki let me know that we were going to be blessed with the gift of life and that I was going to be a new Dad. The guy who can barely take care of himself was now going to be responsible for another human being, crazy! I have never been so excited and get more excited everyday. On January 31st we had our first appointment with our Midwife, Nicki had yet to have any signs of morning sickness or any of the other usual symptoms that a newly pregnant woman may have. So we convinced the Midwife to do a quick ultrasound so we could be 100% sure. Its hard to tell but there is a little blob of a Baby Parrott in there.

Now just a few months later on April 24th we had our 20 week ultrasound and it is crazy to see the growth and development of our baby. All the measurements were right on and as far as we could tell we have an 80% chance of a very healthy little girl! Apparently we have a modest child, and the Ultrasound Tech had a little trouble uncovering the goods.
